Heavy showers to cool northern region

VOV.VN - Torrential rain falling at a rate of between 80mm and 150mm per hour is expected to cool the country's northern region from the evening of June 3.

The showers are expected to end the prolonged heat wave that has scorched northern regions over the past week as temperatures rose to as high 40 degrees Celsius.

In its latest update, the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting also said that thunderstorms, whirlwinds, and lightning could strike during the period of heavy rain.

The weather forecast authority also warned of floods and landslides hitting northern mountainous localities such as Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang, and Lao Cai.

Furthermore, Hanoi is predicted to see heavy rain and thunderstorms starting from the evening of June 3.
