Phu Tho public security reported that floods caused three deaths, submerged 392 ha of rice and vegetable crops, 208 fish ponds, and destroyed 400 metres of the Red River dike, facing 112 households to evacuate.
In northern Yen Bai province, landslides caused five deaths, inundated 213 ha of rice and swept away many properties. Losses are estimated at more than VND10 billion.
Floods and landslides continue to causing great loss as of people and property in northern, central, and Central Highlands provinces. To date, 33 people have died, three are missing, more than 45,600 ha of rice have been flooded and thousands of houses inundated because of heavy and prolonged rains and landslides.
The Centre for Hydro-meteorology Forecast said rains will continue in northern and north central provinces in the next coming days. Water levels in the Hoang Long, Thai Binh, and Red rivers keep rising.
