Heatwave to return to Northern Vietnam, temperatures may hit 40°C

VOV.VN - After a brief period of milder weather, Northern Vietnam is expected to experience another heatwave, with temperatures forecast to climb up to 40°C in the coming days.

Northern Vietnam is enduring a prolonged spell of rain, bringing cooler and more comfortable weather. For the past few days, many localities have seen moderate to heavy rain, causing river levels to rise and flooding in several areas.

This pleasant weather pattern is expected to continue for a few more days before a new heatwave hits the North starting July 8.

In Hanoi, the feels-like temperature on July 8–9 could reach or exceed 40°C. Neighbouring provinces are also expected to experience a similar temperature increase, with highs 1–2°C above Hanoi’s average.

According to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, this summer in Vietnam, particularly in the northern and central regions, is likely to see multiple intense heatwaves, with temperatures ranging from 40–42°C.

Although the frequency and intensity of heatwaves are expected to be around the long-term average, the risk of prolonged and extreme heat events remains high due to global climate change.

Meteorological experts advise residents and local authorities to closely follow weather forecasts and proactively implement heat prevention measures to minimise impacts on health, daily life, and economic activities.
