HCM City’s infection tally surpasses 5,000 after 249 cases recorded
VOV.VN - Ho Chi Minh City registered the highest number of local infections with 249 out of 329 cases found in 15 Vietnamese localities over the six hours to midday on July 3, according to the Health Ministry.
With the new additions, the southern metropolis’s case count rose to 5,187, while most of the remaining cases were recorded in southern and central provinces.
During the noon time, the nation also recorded one imported case in the southern province of An Giang, which were immediately put into isolation upon arrival.
Of the latest local cases recorded nationwide, 280 were found in isolation or locked down areas.
So far, the country has logged a total 16,853, domestic infections and 1,837 imported ones, with the overall number of local cases since the fourth wave of the pandemic hit the nation in late April climbing to 15,283.
A total of 13 provinces have now gone 14 days without any new cases of local transmission being detected, while six other provinces have recorded no secondary infections.
An additional 27,843 people were inoculated against COVID-19 on July 2 alone in 21 provinces and cities throughout the nation.
Nationwide, more than 3.84 million people have been vaccinated against COVID-19, including more than 214,000 getting full two shots.
