HCM City tightens COVID-19 preventive measures

VOV.VN - Deputy head of the Ho Chi Minh City administration Le Thanh Liem signed an urgent document sent to localities, requesting them to continue implementing COVID-19 preventive measures in the new situation.

The municipal administration asked residents to wear face masks in public places, on public vehicles, and wash their hands with soap or sanitizer. People are required to avoid large gatherings and keep a safe distance from each other in public places.

The city requested local administrations to inspect the implementation of COVID-19 prevention and control measures and strictly deal with law-breakers.

Priority will be given to prevention work in densely populated areas such as living quarters, schools, hospitals, wet markets, supermarkets and quarantine facilities, the document says.

The city assigned its health sector to prepare sufficient resources to receive incoming passengers from international commercial flights, ensure safety against the virus, and nip in the bud a possible third wave of the coronavirus.

It encouraged public communication campaigns to help people fully observe the Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 recommendations, especially its 5K message, namely Khau trang (face mask), Khu khuan (disinfection), Khoang cach (distance), Khong tu tap (no gathering) and Khai bao y te (making health declaration).

As of October 8, HCM City has cured all 77 COVID-19 patients. More than 1,350 people are placed in concentrated quarantine facilities, and 228 others are under medical surveillance at home.
