HCM City, ROK promote people-to-people exchange

VOV.VN - Vice Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, Tat Thanh Cang, hosted a reception on November 23 for the visiting President of the Korea International Exchange Fund, Lee Si Hyung.

At the reception, Mr Cang praised diplomatic ties between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea (ROK) over the past 25 years, especially the cooperation on development between HCM City and ROK localities.

Mr Cang told his guest that both sides share cultural similarities and can learn about the unique cultural characteristics of each other through exchange activities.

Mr Cang said HCM City has learnt a lot from the experiences of the ROK in management and construction of smart urban areas, hoping that ROK will support HCM City in building new rural areas, applying advanced technologies in production, and improving capacity for farmers and developing agricultural cooperatives.

Mr Lee Si Hyung, expressed delight that economic cooperation between  the two nations, especially in HCM City, has yielded important achievements over the 25 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties and emphasized  the importance of boosting people-to-people diplomacy through cultural exchange activities to further bilateral ties in future.

Several universities and colleges in Vietnam have developed ROK study programs, and the ROK will support these courses in the time ahead.
