HCM City lodging house fire kills 2, injures more than 10
VOV.VN - A massive fire broke out at a four-story lodging house in Ho Chi Minh City early on December 20, killing two locals and injuring more than 10, according to local police.
The house on Xuan Hong street of Tan Binh District was divided into approximately 20 rental rooms, with a restaurant operating on the ground floor.
At around 6:30 AM, residents discovered flames spreading and quickly raised the alarm, attempting to extinguish the fire. However, the blaze rapidly grew, causing panic among tenants who scrambled to find ways to escape. Some were seen climb through neighboring houses to get to safety.
The Fire Prevention and Rescue Police of Tan Binh District dispatched several vehicles and personnel to the scene to extinguish the fire. Ambulances were also sent to transport the injured to the hospital. By around 9:00 AM, the fire was brought under control.
Firefighters said the fire resulted in two fatalities, and several injured people were hospitalized. Authorities have cordoned off the area and are conducting an investigation into the cause of the fire.
The incident also caused severe traffic congestion on nearby roads during the morning rush hour.
