HCM City installs more cameras to fight street thieves

Police in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 12 on May 5 inaugurated a centre to monitor more than 500 public security cameras as an effort to prevent street crimes.

This is the second district-level centre put into operation after the one in District 5.

Colonel Doan Van Phuc, head of the District 12 Police Office, said the monitoring centre will contribute to crime prevention and support criminal investigations.

The Police Office will intensify the training to maximise the efficiency of the system.

In December 2016, a similar centre was put into use in District 5, contributing importantly to tackling crimes in the district in particular and the city in general.
