The 8th annual job transaction floor opened in Ho Chi Minh City on March 20, attracting thousands of job seekers.

The event, organised by the city’s Youth Union, aims to resolve unemployment, and increase skills and career awareness for the city’s young people.

This year, it attracted 54 businesses with recruitment targets three times higher than the previous year. Businesses interviewed 18,300 candidates, focusing on technology, services, management, office and unskilled workers.

HCM City has set a goal to create jobs for 270,000 people in 2010. The city’s Youth Union has effectively deployed activities, including job festivals, a young labour forum, and a job market for perspective workers. Every year about 30,000 workers are introduced to jobs and 50 percent of them become employed.

On the same day in Quang Trung Park in HCM City, 10,000 participants joined a job fair in the field of information and technology to help students orient themselves towards the right career. The event drew well-known IT businesses such as Gameloft, Lac Viet, FPT, HPT and TMA Solutions.
