HCM City festival for expat community

(VOV) - A second festival themed “HCM City – Integration and Development” opened in HCM City on September 12 for the expat community living in the city.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Le Hoang Quan, chairman of the municipal People’s Committee emphasized through the event, the city seeks to affirm Vietnam’s motto to become friends of all nations in the international community towards peace, independence and development.

International friends introduced their cultural characteristics and national identities with a view to strengthening the friendship and solidarity among nations as well as promoting Vietnam and HCM City’s unique culture to the world.

During the three-day event, visitors have the opportunity to learn about cultural characteristics, economic and foreign affairs of a number of nations from around the globe.

HCM City will introduce its socio-economic and cultural achievements and foreign affairs, especially after the Doi Moi (Renewal) process at a pavilion during the festival.

A pavilion will also introduce Vietnamese people and its land, especially cooperative activities in the field of culture, economics, and society with other global nations.

 The highlight of the festival is an exhibition on Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos in Vietnam.

Diverse activities are planned for the festival including a book exhibition, a fashion show and culinary arts and traditional art performances of Vietnam and other nations.

HCM City has established cooperative relations with 34 localities and trade relations with over 220 nations and territories in the world. More than 300,000 foreigners are living, studying and working in the city.
