HCM City Airport Customs seizes cocaine, drug precursors
(VOV) - Tan Son Nhat International Airport’s Customs Department has seized 4.68kg of cocaine and drug precursors during routine inspections conducted at the end of 2013.
While checking luggage on December 31, authorities uncovered the 1.64kg of cocaine (worth US$200,000) concealed in the suitcase of Philippine citizen Mazon Donna Buenague. She had flown from Doha to HCM City via Qatar Airways.
Officials also discovered the 3.04kg of pseudoephedrine Australian national Nguyen Philip had hidden in two plastic boxes of tamarind marmalade. Nguyen was preparing to fly to Sydney. The precursors are worth an estimated US$300,000.
The Customs Department handed over all of the evidence to the Police Department for Drug-Related Crime. Investigations are continuing.
