Hanoi urged to deal with environmental pollution

VOV.VN - Secretary of the municipal Party’s Committee Hoang Trung Hai has underlined the need for the Hanoi Party’s Committee to take all necessary measures to address environmental pollution.

Addressing an online conference on June 23 in Hanoi, he said the investment in industrial parks and craft villages is increasing, requiring more effort to strictly manage environmental issues as soon as possible.

He pointed to such environmental challenges as poor sanitation infrastructure and climate change.

The Standing Board of the Hanoi Party’s Committee promulgated Resolution No.11 on intensifying environmental protection through 2020 and the following years.

He called for strong determination and drastic engagement of the whole political system to actualize environmental protection goals.

Relevant agencies and authorities were asked to build plans to protect water resources and ensure effective management of toxic and solid wastes.

The resolution proposes four major measures to protect the city’s environment: improving the State management efficiency; prompting campaigns to raise public awareness of protecting the environment and natural resources; intensifying inspections to promptly detect and strictly punish violations; and mobilising financial resources to build environmental technical infrastructure.

The conference also mulled over other issues such as granting land use right certificates and ensuring traffic safety and urban order.
