Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Khiem has approved proposal from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) on preparations for the conference.

According to MARD, IMCAPI will provide a platform for nations to share experiences, identify challenges, develop solutions support measures to prevent highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) and make preparations in response to a possible pandemic.

Previous IMCAPI conferences have been held in the US, China, Austria, Mali, India and Egypt.
