Hanoi is going to have 5 new high-end hotels opened to provide an additional 2,000 rooms for visitors during National Tourism Year 2010.

Among them will be 4 five-star hotels, including the 600-room Hanoi Plaza, the 350-room Vietnam Oil and Gas, the 500-room Keang Nam Vina and the 393-room Crowne Plaza Hanoi.

At present, Hanoi is home to 213 hotels with a total of 9,968 rooms. Last year’s hotel occupation in the capital was just 55.41 percent, a drop of 21.7 percent against the previous year.

On average, guests stay for 2 days each and come from countries such as Japan, the Republic of Korea, France, Australia, China and ASEAN.

Hanoi’s tourism industry hopes that in National Tourism Year, the number of foreign visitors to the capital will rise sharply and room rates will increase.
