Hanoi will build 26 private hospitals with a total area of 61.2 ha, an investment capital of VND9,000 billion, and 6,150 beds between now and until 2015, according to the Hanoi Municipal People’s Committee.

Private medical facilities currently assume about 30 percent of the examination and treatment activities of the overloaded big state hospitals.

Hanoi currently has 14 private hospitals with an investment capital of VND1,079 billion and 477 sick-beds. Some of these hospitals, such as Trang An, Vietnam-France and Tri Duc, invest a lot of money in the latest surgical equipment.

In recent years, private hospitals have been attracting highly qualified and experienced staff, including leading doctors and professors.

The new private hospitals to be built will include Generals Hospitals for Hai Chau, Thanh Xuan, Quang Trung, KwangMyung and Viet-Sing and Truong Lam Traditional Medicine Hospitals.
