Hanoi to build 1,000 public toilets

The People's Committee of Hanoi capital city has approved in principle the construction of 1,000 public toilets to serve the local populace and tourists visiting the city.

In addition, 50 public water-filtering machines and 200 stone chairs will be placed in public spaces in the coming period.

The committee said the city has been facing a shortage of toilets for years, while existing toilets are poorly maintained. The plan to construct public toilets will help resolve the problem.

The project's investor will be asked to use sustainable and eco-friendly building materials for the toilets. The committee requested the investor to study designs that are best suited to the city's culture and architecture.

The investor will be in charge of operating and maintaining those toilets.
