Hanoi is resolved to ensure safety for guests coming from different countries in a hospitable and civilised manner, said Vice Chairman of the Hanoi Municipal People’s Committee Do Hoang An at a meeting on November 3 with representatives from districts, branches and sectors.

Hanoi has finalised preparatory and logistical work to serve the 14th APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting.

The police and public work transport sectors have launched a month to ensure urban transport safety and environmental hygiene. Meanwhile, the Trade Department has asked  the management boards at markets, supermarkets, trade centres and department stores on the main roads to stock up on goods to serve customers on this occasion.

The health sector has examined food safety and hygiene conditions at all hotels chosen for the 2006 APEC Summit and 16 groups have been set up at key road intersections to prevent and deal with violations of transport and environmental hygiene.

There is a plan afoot to keep traffic flowing well during the APEC Week.

Militia forces are on duty around the clock to  ensure that the 2006 APEC Summit will proceed in a peaceful, joyful and hospitable atmosphere.
