Hanoi records five HFMD outbreaks in one week

VOV.VN - Five HFMD (hand, foot and mouth disease) outbreaks have been reported over the past week in Ba Vi, Nam Tu Liem, Phuc Tho, and Hoai Duc districts, according to the Hanoi Center for Disease Control (CDC).

During the week, the capital recorded an additional 191 HFMD cases, a drop of 12 cases compared to the previous week.

Since the beginning of 2025, the city has reported a total of 976 HFMD cases, an increase of 391 cases compared to the same period in 2024.

In total, Hanoi has recorded 18 HFMD outbreaks so far this year, nine of which remain active in Nam Tu Liem, Ba Vi, Hoai Duc, Ha Dong, and Phuc Tho districts.

In response, Hanoi CDC has coordinated with relevant units to strengthen monitoring and prevention efforts for measles and HFMD at Dai Mo (Nam Tu Liem district) and Giang Bien (Long Bien district).

Meanwhile, the Hanoi Department of Health has instructed stronger coordination between the health and education sectors to monitor, prevent, and respond to cases and outbreaks of measles and HFMD in schools. It has also directed the rollout of vaccination campaigns within the school system.

Additionally, the department has urged agencies to step up public communication on disease prevention measures and called on residents to get fully vaccinated on schedule and actively participate in supplemental immunization campaigns launched by the health sector.
