Nearly 2,000 polling stations opened at 07.00am on May 20 for Hanoi voters to elect deputies to the 12th National Assembly. The atmosphere of the national festive day prevailed in every corner of the capital city.

Hanoi has been adorned with colourful slogans, posters and national flags put up along all streets, at the main gates to State offices and polling stations as well as on the top of houses.

Lists of voters and candidates for the election have been made public at all polling stations. Ballots have also been distributed to all voters.

With thorough preparations, the election is expected to take place successfully in Hanoi.
