A Hanoi resident has been banned from traveling by air for nine months after threatening to detonate a mine when checking in for a Nha Trang-bound flight last month, Vietnam’s aviation watchdog announced on Tuesday (September 19).

On August 16, Huu was completing security scanning to board a Vietnam Airlines flight to Nha Trang at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi when he made a “mine-threat statement,” the aviation authority said.
As the false statement was considered a threat to aviation safety, Noi Bai security officers immediately booked the case and reported it to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, leading to his flight ban.
