Hanoi logs 17 COVID-19 cases in a week, urges vigilance
VOV.VN - Hanoi recorded 17 new COVID-19 cases across 12 wards and communes between March 20 and 27, reflecting a rise compared to previous weeks, according to the municipal Centre for Disease Control (CDC Hanoi).
In the preceding week (March 13–20), only three cases were reported, while six cases were documented between March 6 and 13. Earlier in January 2026, the capital logged three infections.
Since the beginning of 2026, Hanoi has reported a total of 29 COVID-19 cases across 22 wards and communes, with no fatalities. The figure represents an increase compared to the same period in 2025, when only five cases were recorded.
Health authorities also noted the circulation of the BA.3.2 subvariant, advising the public not to panic but to remain vigilant.
During the same period, Hanoi reported 233 cases of hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD), along with two outbreaks detected in schools, raising concerns over the simultaneous spread of multiple infectious diseases.
Authorities have urged residents to maintain preventive measures, including wearing masks in healthcare facilities, crowded places, or enclosed spaces. Individuals experiencing symptoms such as cough, fever, or respiratory illness are advised to wear masks and limit contact with others.
People are also encouraged to monitor their health closely and seek medical attention promptly if severe symptoms such as high fever, breathing difficulties, or chest pain occur.
Health experts emphasised that SARS-CoV-2 continues to circulate and may evolve into new variants over time, making sustained vigilance and preventive measures essential, particularly in high-risk settings such as schools and healthcare facilities.
