Hanoi inaugurates two trillion-dong tunnels

(VOV) - The inauguration ceremony of two trillion-dong tunnels at Thanh Xuan and Trung Hoa interchanges was held in Hanoi on January 8.


One tunnel is at Thanh Xuan interchange (at the junction of Nguyen Trai-Khuat Duy Tien roads) and the other is at Trung Hoa interchange (at the junction of Tran Duy Hung road and Thang Long boulevard).

The two tunnels totally cost VND1,638 billion. It is a component in the second phase of Hanoi’s third ring road linking Mai Dich to North Linh Dam.

After inauguration, the two tunnels are expected to help ease traffic congestion at interchanges. 

The 700m-long tunnel at Trung Hoa interchange in Cau Giay District has three lanes for motor vehicles. It costs VND1,087 billion. 

The tunnel is completed after 11 months of construction, and 7 months ahead of schedule.

Trung Hoa interchange will facilitate transportation from urban area to Thang Long boulevard and vice versa.

Floral decoration.

Construction of the 980m-long tunnel at Thanh Xuan interchange began on June 2014. It has an investment capital of VND551 billion sourced from Japan’s ODA.

Each tunnel has two lanes for motor vehicles with a designed speed of 60km/h.
