The 2009 World Information Technology Forum WITFOR will be held in Hanoi on August 26-28, drawing over 150 leaders of advanced information technology corporations from 70 countries around the world, according to the Vietnam Software Association (VINASA).

On the sidelines of the forum, a series of activities will take place. An exhibition on software and human resources is scheduled to display software solutions, new technology, internet television technologies, mobile entertainments and environmentally friendly IT.

The exhibition will have a particular area for Vietnam’s leading software products, which won the 2009 Sao Khue Awards. Now businesses from Japan, the Republic of Korea and Thailand have also registered to take part in the event.

Meanwhile, a job fair will highlight the capacity of Vietnamese universities to the global IT community. Part of the event is for domestic and foreign businesses to recruit human resources directly.

In 2008, despite the economic downturn, Vietnam’s IT industry still reached a growth rate of 20%. Vietnam has 21 million internet users, ranking 18th in the world and 6th in Asia.

It is expected that by 2020 Vietnam will become a strong country in the field of developing IT services.
