The Hanoi municipal People’s Committee has allocated more than VND2 billion to prevent the spread of blue-ear disease in pigs.

The money, sourced from the city’s 2010 budget, will be used to buy medicine to treat sick pigs and purchase chemicals to sterilise breeding farms. Part of the sum will be used to print documents about the disease and establish two checkpoints to control its spread.

This means that, on average, each sick pig in Hanoi will receive VND50,000 for treatment.
