According to the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract, the hangar will be designed by Lilama, who are responsible for purchasing materials for the installation and construction of the hangar.
Lilama will also provide training courses on how to operate the hangar and put it through a trial run before it is handed over to Vietnam Airlines. Delivery is slated for 12 months from the signing of the contract.
The hangar will be built on an area of 13,800sq.m and it is expected to meet standards of the US’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) of the European Union, who allow the project’s owner, Vietnam Airlines, to provide technical maintenance for Boeing and Airbus aircrafts.
Once the construction is completed, the hangar will be able to accommodate three planes simultaneously for parts maintenance and turn them over within four hours.
