Ham Luong Bridge linking Highway 60 from Ho Chi Minh City to Ben Tre, Tra Vinh and Soc Trang provinces opened to traffic on January 17.

The project is part of activities to mark the 1,000 anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi.

Present at the ceremony were Truong Vinh Trong, Politburo member and deputy Prime Minister; Nguyen Van Chi, Politburo member and chairman of the Central Inspection Committee; and General Le Van Dung, Secretary of the Party Central Committee.

Construction of the 800m long and 80m wide bridge started on January 17, 2006 with the Ministry of Transport.

Together with Rach Mieu Bridge, Ham Luong Bridge will shorten the travel time from Ho Chi Minh City to Ben Tre, Tra Vinh and Soc Trang provinces and help these provinces accelerate their socio-economic development and improve their living conditions.
