Hackers break into computers at HCM City airport

The computer system of an international airport in Ho Chi Minh City has been hacked, an official said, adding that the hacking did not affect the airport’s operations.

The display system at Tan Son Nhat International Airport was compromised by a group of hackers, one of the airport managers told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper.

The issue has been reported to IT experts as well as police officers, the official said.

However, he refused to provide any further information regarding the severity of the problem or how long the hacking lasted.

“Competent agencies are investigating the security breach, thus no further information can be revealed,” the airport manager explained.

Tuoi Tre source said that the incident happened on Tuesday afternoon, causing inappropriate content to be displayed on the screens at the airport, which are commonly used to show flight information and advertisements.

“It lasted just a few minutes. All the information screens were displaying bad contents similar to those on the Internet before the entire system of monitors was blacked out,” the source recounted.
