Ha Tinh to complete marine environment incident compensation in June
The central province of Ha Tinh is working to complete the compensation for units and individuals affected by the marine environment incident before June 30.

So far, Ha Tinh authorities have allocated to local administrations more than VND1,464 billion (US$64.5 million) out of the total VND1,600 billion for compensation. Over VND1,312 billion (US$57.7 million) of the sum was disbursed.
As of June 26, 878 people are still under review for compensation, mostly in Nghi Xuan, Thanh Ha, Loc Ha, Ky Anh districts and Ky Anh town.
More than 260,000 people who earned their living from the sea in the four central coastal provinces of Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri and Thua Thien-Hue were affected by a marine environment incident that caused mass fish deaths in April last year.
In late June 2016, Taiwanese-invested Hung Nghiep Formosa Ha Tinh Steel Limited Company admitted responsibility for the incident and pledged VND11.5 trillion (US$500 million) in compensation.
