The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) and its chapters in the central provinces of Quang Tri and Thua Thien-Hue held a grand requiem for fallen soldiers at the Road 9 National Cemetery, Quang Tri province on July 25.

At the ceremony, the VBS highlighted the national patriotism of Vietnamese fighters who sacrificed their lives for national independence, freedom and reunification. The requiem lasted until July 26.

The same day, the southern province of Kien Giang held a solemn memorial service to rebury the remains of 153 of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who laid down their lives on battlefields in Cambodia during wartime.

Search teams operating under the Kien Giang province’s Military Command have found the remains in Cambodia’s provinces of Campot and Kep over the past three months.

Also on July 25, a reburial service took place at the Binh Hiep national border gate in the south of Long An for the remains of 50 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers repatriated from Cambodia.
