Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on November 3 decided to extract VND100 billion from central budget for 2006 to help localities overcome the consequences of typhoon Xangsane.

Under the decision No 1444/QD-TTg, Da Nang will receive VND35 billion, Thua Thien Hue VND20 billion, Quang Nam VND25 billion, Nghe An VND4 billion, Ha Tinh VND4 billion, Quang Binh VND3 billion, Quang Tri VND5 billion, Quang Ngai VND2 bilion, and Kon Tum VND2 billion.


The Prime Minister also decided to donate 1,700 tonnes of rice from the National Reserves to typhoon-hit localities.


The PM assigned the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs to co-ordinate with relevant agencies to check into the current shortage of food in these localities.


The PM also decided to allocate VND50 billion from the central budget for 2006 to the Ministry of Defence to support units under the Ministry to overcome the consequences of the typhoon.
