Vietnam’s first Golden Cashew Festival closed on March 23 in the southern province of Binh Phuoc.

At the closing ceremony, the organising board announced 2 Vietnamese records relating to the biggest cashew model and the largest cashew growing area in the country.

The four-day festival, showcasing products made from cashews, machines and materials for cashew production, drew the participation of more than 300,000 people from local and neigbouring provinces.

Nguyen Thai Hoc, Chairman of the Vietnam Cashew Association, said that foreign visitors can learn valuable lessons from Vietnam in holding the same kind of festival in their countries to promote the cashew production. The Festival offers excellent opportunities for domestic cashew growers and producers to seek foreign partners.

Bui Van Thach, Deputy Head of the Binh Phuoc Provincial People’s Committee and also Chairman of the Festival organising board, said the province strongly believes that the brand names of Vietnamese and Binh Phuoc cashews will be widely promoted across the world through the festival. The government will soon work out a development plan for cashew production under its agricultural diversification programme to ensure the living standards of cashew growers.
