Global dental science conference coming to Da Nang for first time
VOV.VN - The Osstem World Meeting, a global scientific conference on dentistry, will take place in the central city of Da Nang, Vietnam, on April 18–19. This marks the first time in 16 years that the event is being held in Southeast Asia, following its 2009 edition in Bangkok.
According to the Republic of Korea (RoK)’s News1, the conference is expected to gather around 1,300 dentists from 33 countries, including the Republic of Korea, the US, China, Russia, Turkey, Mexico, Ukraine, France, Japan, Thailand, New Zealand, and Canada. Vietnam will have the largest delegation, with 200 local dentists set to attend.
This year’s conference is themed digital knowledge: the path to effective daily dental practice. The first day will feature four hands-on workshops, and the second day will include six lectures, some featuring live surgery, led by digital dentistry experts from the RoK, India, the US, New Zealand, Vietnam and Portugal.
In Vietnam, demand for dental implants has surged in recent years, driven by rapid economic growth, improved living standards, and increasing awareness of oral healthcare. The country is also emerging as a regional destination for medical tourism, including dental treatment, and is expected to see strong growth in the sector.
In 2011, the RoK’s Osstem Implant established a subsidiary in Vietnam and launched the Osstem Implant Center to provide hands-on clinical training for local dentists and promote independent implant procedures.
The event’s organizer, Osstem Implant, describes the Osstem World Meeting as the flagship of its global clinical education program, showcasing cutting-edge advancements in dental implant technology. The company says it aims to support ongoing dentist education and expand digital dental solutions both in the RoK and abroad.
First held in 2008, the Osstem World Meeting has become a major international platform for professionals specializing in Osstem implants. Except during the COVID-19 pandemic (2020–2022), the conference has been held annually in cities worldwide, serving as a venue for dental professionals to share the latest advancements in clinical practice and technological innovation.
