For the past eight years, a society in the German city of Neuburg has been raising funds to help Vietnamese children affected by Agent Orange/dioxin which contaminated large areas of Vietnam during the war that raged in the 1960s and early 1970s.

With assistance from this organization, nearly 150 children suffering from the deadly defoliant have undergone surgery to regain their physical functions. The number of beneficiaries in 2009 was 20.

The President of the society, Wolfram Heyne, said he will cooperate closely with the Vietnamese Culture Society of the Vietnamese community in Neuburg to help the child victims of dioxin integrate more fully into their communities.

The society will also coordinate its efforts with those of Australia’s donation agency ‘Children’s Hope in Action’ to raise money for construction of a physical rehabilitation centre for AO/dioxin victims.
