The Director made this remark during an online conference in Hanoi on January 28 to boost the dissemination of information on gender equality.

Ms. Yamazaki said that to ensure an equal role for women in society, it is essential to make it easier for them to hold key positions. In addition, central and local authorities and Government officials should publicize and enforce laws on gender equality.

The conference, linking Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, was co-organized by the Central Party Committee's Commission for Mass Mobilization and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to promote the enforcement of laws on gender equality and the Politburo’s resolution on women’s work in the current period of national industrialization and modernization.

Participants at the event focused their discussions on gender-related issues, the enforcement of the law on gender equality and role of women in the national cause of industrialization and modernization. They also analyzed subjective attitudes, shared experiences and proposed some new ideas to boost compliance with the gender equality law and the Politburo’s resolution in the future.
