Frozen tiger carcass found hidden in bus compartment from Laos to Vietnam

VOV.VN - Police in northern Ha Tinh province have seized a frozen tiger carcass weighing about 200 kg and a tiger skeleton concealed in a custom-built compartment on the roof of a passenger bus traveling from Laos to Vietnam.

The vehicle, carrying a Lao license plate, was stopped on National Highway 8A on July 26. Upon inspection, police found the tiger parts hidden in the compartment, which had been modified to evade detection.

The frozen tiger was confirmed to be a Group IB endangered species, strictly protected under Vietnamese law and banned from commercial exploitation.

Four individuals linked to the bus transport have been detained for violating regulations on the protection of endangered, precious, and rare wildlife

A further investigation into the case is now underway.
