French professor honoured with friendship insignia

(VOV) -Vietnamese Ambassador to France Duong Tri Dung on January 23 presented the friendship insignia to Professor Michel Guillou for his active contributions to strengthening Vietnam-France ties of friendship and cooperation.

Prof. Guillou is the Head of the Institute for the Study of the Francophonie and Globalization (Inframond), and Chairman of the Senghor International Network of Chairs of the Francophonie (RICSF).

Ambassador Dung praised the professor’s efforts in promoting cooperation in education and training between the two countries, as well as between Vietnam and other Francophonie members.

Prof. Guillou expressed deep gratitude for being honoured and hoped that a regional Francophonie university will be founded in Vietrnam soon.

Ambassador Duong Van Quang, who is also envoy of the State President to the International Organization of the Francophonie (OIF) in France, recalled the good time of working with the professor on a Masters of Francophonie and Globalisation programme between the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam and Jean Moulin University Lyon 3, which attracted large numbers of students from Laos, Cambodia, China and African countries.

As the Chairman of the Paris 12 Val de Marne University and the Founder of the Francophonie University Association (AUF), Prof. Guillou was awarded the Legion of Honour medal by the French government in 1993.
