French frigate Vendémiaire pays goodwill visit to Vietnam
VOV.VN - Frigate Vendémiaire of the French Navy will pay a goodwill visit to Da Nang, central Vietnam, from April 11 to 15, according to the French Embassy in Hanoi.
Upon locking at Tien Sa port, the captain and crewmembers of the vessel will pay a courtesy visit to leaders of the Da Nang municipal government, and the commands of Military Region 5 and Navy Region 3.
The crewmembers will engage in several friendly exchanges such as fire prevention and control, ensuring safety at sea, training on anti-pollution, search and rescue at sea, as well as volleyball competitions with officers of the Vietnam People’s Navy and the Vietnam Coast Guard.
This is the first year that the Vietnam Coast Guard has taken part in exercises at sea with the crewmembers on board the French frigate.
According to French Ambassador to Vietnam Olivier Brochet, the Vendémiaire’s stopover is a major highlight for France - Vietnam cooperation. The visit also demonstrates France’s commitment to freedom of navigation and overflight at sea, as well as the protection of common spaces.
The Vendemiaire departed from Noumea on February 29 and performed maritime patrol missions with the armed forces of ASEAN and regional countries, including Timor-Leste, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Brunei and Australia.
