France wants to promote cooperation with Vietnam and invest in the latter's atomic energy plant for mutual benefit, French parliamentarians told a high-ranking Vietnamese National Assembly official.

Speaking to Chairman Ho Duc Viet of the Vietnam NA Committee for Science, Technology and Environment, French Senate President Christian Poncelet expressed his hope that the collaborative relationship between France and Vietnam will further develop and that he will visit Vietnam as soon as possible.

While in France from February 5-9, the senior Vietnamese NA official met the President of the Vietnam-France Parliamentarians Friendship Group Gerard Miquel, Member of Parliament and Rapporteur of the French Parliamentary Office for Scientific and Technological Assessment Claude Birraux, High Commissioner of the French Atomic Energy Commission Bernard Bigot and a number of other French Foreign Ministry officials.

Vietnam
wants to expand international cooperation in energy security while protecting the environment and ensuring safety, said Mr Viet.

Both host and guest exchanged experiences in bilateral cooperation of energy development, environmental protection and relevant documentation preparation.
