France is willing to help Vietnam with water resources protection and waste water treatment, said President of the Supreme Council for France-Vietnam Economic Cooperation Development, Jacques Oudin, at a press conference in Hanoi on March 20.

During the March 11-20 visit to Vietnam, Mr Oudin and his entourage worked with leaders from the Ministry of Natural Resources and some companies operating in the field of water management in Vietnam.

Mr Oudin said Vietnam is rich in water resources. However, the allocation of water resources has not been carried out properly, leading to shortages of safe water in many localities.

Mr Oudin emphasized that he met with Vietnamese leaders in the field of natural resources and environment and proposed eight documents concerning the need to set up a national safe water management agency, build a water management system and carry out further research into water resources in Vietnam.
