The French Overseas Educational Agency (AEPE) on July 19 signed a contract to lease 25,000sq. m in HCM City to build the French-speaking Collette School.

The contract has a term of 50 years with a possibility for extension, the municipal People's Committee stated.

Once completed as scheduled in late 2008, the project will accommodate 800 students from families of investors and expatriates from France and other French-speaking countries ranging from preschoolers to 12th graders. The school now can house 480 students.

The AEFE plans to hold an architectural-design contest for the new school before September.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by Deputy HCM City Mayor Nguyen Van Dua.
Among the guests were French Ambassador Jeam-Francois Blarel, the French Consul General in HCMC Nicolas Warnery, and the Chairman of the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Vietnam, Philippe Serene.
