Academic Prof. Dao Trong Thi, Director of Hanoi National University, has been awarded France's "Chevalier de l'Ordre National du Merite" (Knight of the National Order of Merit) for his contributions to the cooperation in higher education, scientific research and culture between Vietnam and France.

Authorized by the French President, Ambassador Jean Francois Blarel handed over the award to Prof. Thi at a ceremony held in Hanoi on February 6.

Mr Thi's deputies, Prof. Dr. Vu Minh Giang and Prof. Dr. Mai Trong Nhuan, received "L'Ordres des Palmes Academiques" (Orders of Academic Palms) - one of France's most prestigious awards for French and foreign individuals working in the fields of education, science and culture.

Over the past years, Hanoi National University has effectively cooperated with its French counterparts to establish a French University Centre in Vietnam, which has provided the country with European-standard graduate and postgraduate training as well as modern training methods.
