Four cartons of suspected gun components seized near border
VOV.VN - Police in central Quang Tri province have uncovered a case involving the illegal transport of a large quantity of suspected gun assembly components, local authorities said on December 19.
Earlier, on the afternoon of December 16, a task force led by the provincial Economic Police Division, in coordination with Lao Bao Commune Police and the Customs Control Team under Regional Customs Branch IX, inspected a passenger bus showing suspicious signs in Cao Viet Hamlet, Lao Bao Commune.
At the time of inspection, officers found a man identified as N.D.H., born in 1981 and residing in Lao Bao Commune, loading cartons of goods into the vehicle’s luggage compartment.
A check of the cartons revealed a total of 149 items suspected to be basic components used for assembling firearms.
According to initial statements, N.D.H. said he had been hired by P.T.L.H., born in 1978 and also residing in Lao Bao Commune, to transport four cartons to N.V.N., born in 1987, the driver of the bus, for delivery to Hanoi.
The case is under further investigation.
HCM City confiscates illegally-imported guns
