Foreign sailor rescued offshore Danang City

The Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre for Zone 2 in Danang (Danang MRCC) has rescued a Singaporean sailor who fell serious ill on the Cook Islands flagged vessel Sam Young offshore central Danang city.

Upon receiving information from the Sam Young shipping dealer on early August 13, the Danang MRCC sent its SAR 274 vessel carrying doctors to access the foreign ship, which was sailing from the Republic of Korea to Singapore, to provide first aid for the victim.

The sailor, named Lew Sze Kai, 39, was suffering from serious impetigo. He was then transferred to the rescue ship and brought ashore.

He was taken to hospital for further treatment in the morning of August 14.
