To date, a dozen of provinces have reported outbreaks of the foot-and-mouth disease. More than 5,300 cows and buffaloes and nearly 600 pigs have contracted the disease in the past 21 days.

Since early August, foot-and-mouth disease has recurred in many localities, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.


From August 14-17, the disease spread in Nam Tra My, Thang Binh, and Tien Phuoc districts of central Quang Nam province, affecting 24 cows and buffaloes and 19 pigs.
The disease was also detected in south central Phu Yen province and northern Dien Bien and Bac Can provinces.


To date, a dozen of provinces have reported outbreaks of the foot-and-mouth disease. They are Can Bang, Dien Bien, Ha Giang, Hanoi, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, Gia Lai, Thai Nguyen, Long An and Dong Thap. More than 5,300 cows and buffaloes and nearly 600 pigs have contracted the disease in the past 21 days.
