Five memorable days for US Navy officers in Da Nang

VOV.VN - A US Navy fleet including the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson, the guided missile cruiser USS Lake Champlain, and the destroyer USS Wayne E. Meyer with around 5,000 crew on board left Da Nang today (March 9), ending their historic visit to Vietnam.

The US Navy fleet arrived in Da Nang Bay on March 5, beginning a five-day visit to Da Nang for wide ranging activities.

The visit aims to actualize the agreement reached by the two countries’ senior leaders in the joint statement issued by Vietnam and the US during US President Donald Trump’s visit to Vietnam in November 2017. It is seen as a step toward strengthening the two countries’ ties in line with their comprehensive partnership, thereby maintaining peace, stability, security, cooperation, and development in the region.
