Fishermen net 10 ton catch on first trip of 2018

VOV.VN - Nearly a dozen fishing vessels docked at Tho Quang fishing port in central Da Nang City on the morning of February 23 heavily laden with a fresh haul of fish after their first trip of Lunar New Year.

Fishermen say that the favourable weather has allowed many fishing vessels to catch huge volumes of fish, especially tuna.

Vo Van Dung, owner of the QNG 94448 TS fishing vessel, is happy to report that his ship netted 10 tons of various fish after being at sea from February 5 to 23.

The trip earns him more than VND500 million in profits. It means each fisherman gets more than VND20 million, a much higher reward than normal days, which is a valuable bonus for them as they had to work rather than join their families for the Tet holiday, says Mr Dung.

Each trip takes more than 2 weeks.

The fishing vessels catch many types of big fish. The prices of fish at port can range from VND80,000-300,000 per kilo.

Tho Quang fishing port can accommodate around 1,000 fishing vessels.
