Fire destroys Lam Dong ginseng facility

Local witnesses said they heard a huge explosion come from a tissue culture propagation area of Ngoc Linh Ginseng JSC, which is located at Tuyen Lam Lake, Da Lat city in the Central Highland province of Lam Dong.

Dozens of the company’s workers made an attempt to extinguish the fire but were unable to quell the flames. Firefighters from the provincial Firefighting and Fire Prevention Police Department were immediately dispatched to the scene to extinguish the fire. The fire was brought under control within 30 minutes.

The company’s ginseng production facility covers an area of 2,000 square metres. The fire destroyed a large quantity of equipment and machinery for ginseng tissue culture with an estimated value of billions of Vietnamese dongs.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
