Female deputies have made a great contribution to the National Assembly’s legislative work, supervision and decision on making many of the country’s current important issues.

Ha Thi Khiet, head of the Central Committee for Mass Mobilisation, stated this at a meeting of female deputies held by the Vietnam Women’s Union Central Committee at the Women and Development Centre on June 10.

Ms Khiet said she hoped that female deputies will uphold Vietnamese women’s tradition to contribute more to the country’s socio-economic development and ensure equality of the sexes by putting forward ideas and suggestions at the NA.

Participants agreed that gender equality is a long-term issue and needs monitoring at all levels. They also proposed that the Party and State increase the ratio of female officials and provide them with more opportunities to advance themselves.
