Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has agreed to extend the 2004-2006 development co-operation agreement between Vietnam and Sweden.

Accordingly, the agreement will last until December 31, 2007 and receive an additional 300 million SEK, bringing Sweden’s total nonrefundable aid for development co-operation projects in Vietnam to 1.2 billion SEK.

The PM has authorized the Ministry of Planning and Investment to sign a document to adjust the agreement with Swedish Government representatives. The 2004-2006 development co-operation agreement was signed during an official visit to Vietnam by the Swedish royal family in February 2004 and accordingly, the country provided 300 million SEK (around US$40 million) in non-refundable aid to Vietnam each year.
