Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has asked the entire political system to take part in the fight against A/H1N1 flu as the disease is beginning to spread into some communities.
In his telegram issued on July 25, PM Dung required heads of ministries, ministerial-level agencies, government agencies, and cities and provinces to promptly carry out urgent measures to prevent A/H1N1 flu from spreading.

He asked the media and other means of communications to raise public awareness of flu preventive measures so to get the entire people involved in combating the disease.

The PM required centrally-run provincial and municipal leaders to issue direct instructions to their localities in accordance with the adopted Plan against A/H1N1 Pandemic and closely monitor the implementation of their instructions.

He asked the Health Minister to keep a round-the-clock watch over developments of the disease and prepare necessary drugs and medical facilities for emergency treatment.

The Health Ministry was requested to set up inspection teams to oversee the implementation of preventive measures in all localities, particularly in densely-populated areas where an outbreak of A/H1N1 flu is likely to occur, as well as in rural and remote areas.

The PM ordered the Ministry of Education and Training to provide teachers and students with clear guidance on flu preventive measures and issue a temporary closure of schools, if need be, in order to prevent the disease from spreading far and wide.

Meanwhile, Vietnamese health authorities on July 25 confirmed 35 new cases of A/H1N1 flu, all in southern provinces.

The new cases brought the number of patients tested positive for the A (H1N1) flu to 567, but with no fatalities reported so far, said Dr. Nguyen Huy Nga, Chief of the Health Ministry’s Preventive Health Department.

The provinces of Khanh Hoa, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Lam Dong, Binh Duong, Dong Thap, Dong Nai, Binh Phuoc, Tay Ninh, and Long An have reported cases of this flu among students studying in Ho Chi Minh City’s Ngo Thoi Nhiem and Nguyen Khuyen schools who came back home for summer vacation.

According to health authorities, 371 A/H1N1 flu patients have been discharged from hospital. The remaining, including the newly-detected cases are now separated in isolation for treatment and all are in stable condition.
